Environmental Artist

Responsibilities

The environmental artist is responsible for designing and modeling clean, efficient, and light 3D environments for use in the game.  The environmental artist will provide quality environments and objects with textures , bump maps and lighting for project needs.


Needed Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong ability to motivate and work in teams
  • Passion for making and playing video games
  • Ability to quickly design and create assets for use in games
  • Thorough understanding of latest 3D modeling technology such as Maya and Z-Brush
  • Thorough understanding of 2D software such as Photoshop
  • Solid understanding of pipeline creation and maintenance
  • Solid understanding of color theory, lighting, and custom materials


Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with video game product development including, but not limited to workflow, tools, limits of technology, matte painting, color keys, character turnarounds, story board, marketing material, graphic design, HUD/UI design experience desirable
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of 3D packages a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of color, space, depth, composition and material.
  • Master in rendering techniques such as Global Illumination, HDRI, Final Gather, pre-rendering, real-time rendering
